Well Klutzy Erin strikes again.... Yesterday at work I decided to do a random gravity check and trip over my own two feet while attempting to turn around to go grab something. In doing so I inverted my RIGHT ankle, fell down which then everted my foot, and hurt my ankle. AWESOME RIGHT? Well, being me, I didn't think much of it since I have sprained my ankle a million times in soccer, hockey, softball.... and just being my klutz self...so I just "walked it off"....
Like the SPIDERMAN socks??
About an hour later my foot began to hurt... ALOT... so I had my manager get me an ice pack and we proceeded to duct tape it to my foot (no flex wrap like in my training room work days haha). Anyways, I went home for lunch, took some pain killers and went on with my day. Standing at work.....not my best plan.... all of a sudden, about 4 hours post fall, I couldn't stand the pain anymore... I could just tell it was swelling as my shoe was a bit tighter now. I knew not to take off my shoe, as doing so could cause further injury and the swelling and bruising would increase. So I filed an incident report, figured out workers compensation, and made my way to an urgent care.
***Yes... I drove... remember I injured my driving foot.. soooo I drove with my left foot! I TOLD YOU I AM TALENTED***
Waited at the urgent care facility for about an hour (thank goodness I packed snacks from work.. STARVING....) until I finally got called back by... well it just happened to be a hot guy nurse.
(I should be thankful for this except I had to tell him about my klutz move... and show him my foot...which was dry since ya know WINTER SUCKS... and its "No Shave November" soo ya you know where I'm going with this... not my best moment to have a hot guy talk to me...)
Ended up getting X-Rays done and had the doctor attempt to move my foot..but that was not happening (OWW). At first she said it was severely sprained and all I would need is a brace and crutches (greeeaaatttt... crutches in the winter... JOY) but that it would only be a week on them and it's a small brace. BUTTTT NOOO!.....
**cue hot nurse guy entering**
"Umm.. doctor, you may want to see this" ::hands her the x-ray report::...
"Oh nevermind Erin... it appears as though you have 2 (YUP 2) Avulsion fractures... one on the medial and one on the lateral side of your foot.. so we are going to have to get you the big boot now and your crutches for sure.
::smacks head to table::
JUST MY LUCK! What I thought was no big deal and laughed off this morning ended up being TWO avulsion fractures?? UGHHH
SO... anybody else prone to stupid injuries or just being a klutz??? I can't be the only one.. but who knows.. maybe the floor just hates me! ;)
Be fit, free, and LOVE LIFE!
