Hey everybody!!!
My name is Erin… I am 5′ 3” and 19 years old. I have struggled with Anorexia Nervosa for two years. When I was 17, I started to decrease my intake to under 900 calories per day until I was only 90 pounds. I entered a partial hospitalization treatment center and regained health and got back to a healthy weight.
I went off to college at NYU and was loving life… ED free! I was exploring NYC, enjoying friends, working, getting internships, and living life. Second semester I wanted to get “healthy” by beginning to weight lift. I loved the freedom, the strength I felt, and the people I met in the gym. However, over the semester, it became an addiction. I began to workout everyday without rest, lowering my food intake to around 1500 per day with only “clean” foods, and constantly staying busy to avoid people and thinking about my body. I put my body through strain and stress, and this led to another term of severe weight loss until I was around 82 pounds.

I entered treatment once again in June 2014 at the Eating Recovery Center in Denver, CO for Anorexia Athletica. Over the course of 4 months I had my ups and downs of treatment, but finally chose to recover and begin to trust the process. I gained the weight once again back to a healthy 108-110 pound range. I left Denver in October 2014, feeling confident about my recovery and my future. Back home now for the remainder of the semester, I have chosen to follow IIFYM with help from a macros coach along with seeing a dietician and therapist to keep me accountable. I am not perfect… "I am wired for struggled, but worthy of love and belonging"(Brene Brown). I will have my bad days where my body image sucks, I don’t want to eat my meal plan, I want to isolate, and I want to use my ED behaviors; I will not deny that fact. However, I have learned to reach out to my family, friends, my health team and coaches to support me in not relapsing. My goal is to get back to NYC and NYU for spring term! This blog is to show my journey to get there. I love to cook healthy foods and experiment with new foods and recipes! I plan on posting those along with fitness and workout tips! I lift weights 4 times per week, 1 day of Zumba, and 2 rest days per week. I will find balance in my life with food, exercise, and body image… so follow my story, check out my recipes, and always remember that you have one life to live! Make the most of it everyday!
